Running Effective Meetings
Tips for facilitating engaging and meaningful group meetings
5 steps

1
Prepare in Advance
Review the meeting agenda, prepare any materials, and pray for your group
members. Send a reminder 24 hours before the meeting.
2
Start and End on Time
Respect everyone's time by starting promptly and ending when promised.
This builds trust and helps members plan around your meetings.
3
Facilitate, Don't Dominate
Your job is to guide discussion, not lecture. Ask open-ended questions,
draw out quieter members, and gently redirect if someone dominates.
4
Create Safe Space
Remind members about confidentiality. What's shared in the group stays
in the group. This safety allows for deeper sharing.
5
Close with Prayer and Next Steps
End with prayer intentions and a closing prayer. Confirm the next meeting
date and any commitments members have made.
You're all set!
Follow these steps and you'll be on your way.
